Designed for staff who have not completed the Assisted Living Core Training, our collection of courses for the orientation training of Florida Assisted Living Direct Care Staff is designed to align with the requirements in Section 429.52 - Staff training and educational requirements of the Florida Administrative Code. This collection also includes seven hours of dementia-related training as required by Section 430.5025 - Alzheimer's disease and related forms of dementia; education and training of the Florida Administrative Code.
This collection contains 15 courses, totalling 18 hours of training – 7 hours of which are related to dementia, and covers a number of topics including, pre-service training on Residents’ Rights in Florida, and an introduction to dementia care, an overview of HIV and AIDS, working with older adults, assisting with ADLs and iADLs, infection control, emergency response, responding to and reporting elder abuse, and incident reporting. Additional dementia-related courses include, understanding dementia, the psychological, emotional, and physical needs of people with dementia, managing challenging behaviors in dementia, assisting older adults with dementia with bathing and personal care, and communication strategies in dementia care.
This collection can be used as is, or combined with any of our other courses to create an effective, and easy to understand, orientation training program for your Florida-based Direct Care Staff team.
